Was the tree-that-wasn't-a-tree a bad luck charm? Just when we thought we might seen the long-shuttered Charity Hospital return to commerce soon, the state says it is scrapping the proposals for the space so far and starting from scratch.
With the incoming Gov. John Bel Edwards' administration, the search for a developer for the state-owned Charity Hospital will start over with a new approach:
Rather than pick one of the developers who applied, the state will instead hire a consultant group that can expertly analyze real estate and financial data. Then, the state will launch a new search for a developer through a request-for-proposals process. Looks like we'll have to wait and see what happens with Charity for a little while longer.
