Jeffrey Feil of The Feil Organization has shared plans for the old Dixie beer warehouse on Tulane Avenue, which he bought in April. NOLA.com reports he hopes to demolish the warehouse and build either a mixed-use apartment/retail building or an extended stay hotel, according to documents filed with the city.
The developer is hoping to take advantage of the nearby University Medical Center and the Veterans Administration hospital that should open by the end of 2017.
The group has proposed either a mixed-use development called Tulane Commons, which would have 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a total of 96 apartment units across three floors, or a five-story extended stay hotel with 88 rooms and 91 parking spots.
The Feil Organization also recently purchased a Pepsi-Cola warehouse on Tulane Avenue.
