Getting a parking ticket often feels like a grave injustice, even if you’re in the wrong. But if you got a citation in New Orleans last year, it may have actually been a mistake: WWL reports the city’s Inspector General's Office found thousands of mistakes in tickets issued last year—8,900 to be exact.
Erroneous parking tickets cost the city $190,000, according to the IG. The IG attributed the mistakes to "human error."
The city has a fix in place to keep this from happening; the company handling ticket collections has changed its software to ensure more accuracy.
You can contact City Hall if you believe your ticket was issued erroneously.
