A jazz club has reopened on St. Claude Avenue after a two-year hiatus.
According to WDSU, Sweet Lorraine’s Jazz Club is reopening after the club took severe water damage from Hurricane Issac in 2012.
Sweet Lorraine’s Jazz Club has been on St. Claude for the last 30 years. The club is known for its New Orleans cuisine and choice of jazz artists.
The owner, Paul Sylvester, is happy to be back. He said that his family has been in the New Orleans entertainment scene since the 1920s.
The club reopens just after the grand opening of the North Rampart streetcar line this past Monday.
Sylvester hopes the new streetcar line will encourage more customer traffic for the reopened club.
