Famous Mid-City po’ boy hub asks for expansion

Parkway’s Bakery and Tavern wants more breathing room

Mid City’s iconic po’ boy restaurant, Parkway Bakery & Tavern, is submitting a proposal to expand its Hagan Avenue property to City Council this Thursday.

The bakery asked to increase its property by 2,000 square feet to expand the current dining area and to renovate bathroom facilities, Mid-City Messenger reports.

According to Mid-City Messenger, the architect overseeing the project said the style and color of the expansion will match the existing restaurant.

City Planning Commission complimented Jay Nix, the owner of Parkway Bakery, saying his restaurant is quintessential to the Mid-City neighborhood.

The property is located on 538 Hagan Avenue.
