The sad, mostly abandoned Jefferson Plaza shopping center between Causeway Boulevard and Labarre Road on Jefferson Highway, marked by a deteriorating Frostop diner right in the middle, is finally on its way to returning to commerce.
According to Jefferson Parish records, Ochsner Medical Center—whose flagship hospital is down the street—is seeking a zoning change on the site to make way for a five-story rehabilitation hospital.
The New York-based Feil Organization bought the property in June, and there were rumors that the company would partner with Ochsner to redevelop the site.
