Here Are the Renderings for the Canopy By Hilton Hotel, Going up in the CBD

The hotel brand is geared toward young travelers

Among the many hotel projects in downtown New Orleans, an outpost of the Canopy by Hilton brand is going up in the Oil & Gas building in the CBD.

The building, which most recently housed Club Ampersand, was once slated to be an affordable housing development. Now it's set to become a Canopy, another hotel brand trying to target those millennial travelers who would rather stay at an Instagram-worthy Airbnb.

Famed New Orleans architect August Perez designed the midcentury modern building, which was built in 1959 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Construction on the 14-story building began in June 2015. No opening date for the hotel has been announced yet.

Canal Street Beat has even more renderings over there.
