Comparing rentals in five neighborhoods

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various New Orleans neighborhoods. Is one person's studio another person's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $1,300.

↑ Over in Bywater, the 900 square-foot two-bedroom has wood floors and dark green wood ceilings, a dishwasher, central air and heat, washer/dryer, a courtyard, and off-street parking. Pets under 20 pounds are allowed with a $300 deposit.

↑ The cute two-bedroom, one-bathroom in the Black Pearl is located blocks from Loyola, Tulane, Audubon Park, and the levee. The 825 square-foot shotgun includes stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, a washery/dryer in the unit, and a fenced backyard with deck. Pets are allowed on a case by case basis with pet deposit.

↑ This three-bedroom, one-bathroom shotgun in the 7th Ward features 1,250 square feet of space. Besides new central air/heat, a washer/dryer, a front porch, and large yard, the apartments has a "sane and entirely decent landlord." Pets are considered on a case-by-case basis.

↑ For $1,295, there are two two-bedroom, one-bathroom units available for rent in a building in Carrollton. Units feature a living/dining area, furnished kitchen, and laundry. There's also secure gate access and off-street covered parking. Pets are allowed.

↑ The newly renovated one-bedroom unit in historic Treme mansion features a balcony, fireplace mantles in each room, a brand new kitchen and bathroom, and lots of light. No word on the pets policy.
