Former Dixie Brewing Warehouse on Tulane Avenue Sells For $5.6 Million

The developer owns retail and office spaces in the Greater New Orleans area

A New York developer with other holdings in the Greater New Orleans area purchased the former Dixie Brewing Co. warehouse at 2537 Tulane Ave., left vacant since Hurricane Katrina, for $5.6 million.

Jeffrey Feil, whose company owns Metairie's Lakeside Shopping Center and other retail and office spaces in the area, bought the 1.6-acre site through an LLC earlier this month.

The Bruno family bought the failing brewery in 1985 and turned it around, and Dixie brewed beer in New Orleans until it was damaged by Katrina's floods. The brewery was threatened with demolition in 2014. Portions of the brewery will be incorporated into the new Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
