A CVS pharmacy opened in the Lower 9th Ward today, making it the first national retailer to open in the area since Hurricane Katrina.
The 13,000 square-foot store is on the corner of North Claiborne Avenue and Forstall Street.
One of New Orleans' hardest hit neighborhoods by Katrina's floods, the Lower 9 has not seen much development since the storm. The new CVS will provide some convenience—plus 20 full-time and part-time jobs—to the area.
