The renovation of the pair of French Quarter buildings that once housed a Hurwitz Mintz furniture store is nearly complete, and now the high-end apartments in the mixed-use development are available for pre-lease.
Named May & Ellis, the Trapolin Peer Architects-renovated building is leasing studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, as well as a third-floor penthouse unit. Leasing launched today in anticipation of a September move-in, according to a press release from developers Abri Design & Development.
Offering a "a modern take on French Quarter living," units feature large windows and high ceilings, wide-plank oak floors, quartz countertops, gas stoves, and exposed heavy-timber beams. Building amenities include two courtyards; a rooftop deck, gym, and lounge; and bike storage and valet parking "one block away."
Rents range from $1,750 for a studio, $2,250 for a one-bedroom, $2800-$3500 for two-bedrooms, and $5750 for the penthouse.
There is no tenant yet for the 6800 square feet of retail space on the building’s ground floor, but David Hecht with Formwork Development LLC says developers "have a few great leads—mostly restaurants—but nothing definite."
