In January, a magnificent—albeit old and in need of updates—center hall right on Bayou St. John hit the market, boldly asking $3.8 million. Not long after chopping that asking price down to $2.9 million, the house recently sold for $2.5 million.
The buyer's name was not disclosed, and it hasn't appeared in public records yet, but a spokesman for the selling agent said "the buyer only looked at this house and they were not actively looking" and it was "too good to pass up."
The 5,679 square-foot property sits on nearly an acre of land and includes a pool, a guest house, and a basement "speakeasy" bar and giant fireplace.
