Brooklyn-Based Company Will Bring Bike Sharing to New Orleans

The company predicts it will be up and running by summer 2017

New Orleans recently started the search for a company to start a citywide bike sharing program here, and NOLA.com reports that the city has chosen a winner: It’s the Brooklyn-based Social Bicycles, or SoBi.

Seven companies were vying for the job, and then the competition was whittled down to four. Only one of those companies was based in New Orleans.

Contract talks are happening now. SoBi estimates it could have "a system of 700 bikes and 70 hubs up and running by summer 2017."
