New Orleans flood insurance: FEMA hosts a workshop for new rate maps

FEMA's new maps affect approximately 85,000 policies in New Orleans

In March the city released FEMA new flood maps that remove many properties out of flood zones, making flood insurance cheaper for some. If you have questions about the new maps, FEMA is hosting a workshop this Friday at New Orleans City Council chambers.

The workshop, which will cover flood insurance changes, policy conversions and "how to utilize new tools and resources," will be held this Friday, Aug. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Since the new maps affect, according to the mayor’s office, approximately 85,000 policies in New Orleans it might be a good idea to attend.
