New Orleans WeWork rumored to be coming to Contemporary Arts Center

Eskew+Dumez+Ripple filed permits for a "work-sharing space" at the CAC

Could the New York-based coworking company WeWork, which has spaces in 33 cities, be coming to New Orleans? According to Silicon Bayou News, word on the street is that a New Orleans WeWork might be on the way.

The Contemporary Arts Center has long been looking to develop the third and fourth floors of its building, and architects Eskew+Dumez+Ripple filed permits for a "work-sharing space" on those floors in late July.

Although the plans refer to the space as The Shop, a source told Silicon Bayou News that WeWork is the company moving into the space. The blog reached out to WeWork, but a spokesperson declined to comment.

New Orleans has seen the opening of several locally owned coworking spaces in the last few years, most recently The Warehouse. Could a national chain be joining the ranks?
