A neighborhood grocery store focusing on Louisiana products is planning to move into a corner building on Oak Street, according to Uptown Messenger.
The 3,900-square-foot building, which also houses California video game developer inXile’s New Orleans studio, used to be a Super 10 discount store. The name of the grocery is Simone’s Market.
Owner Simone Reggie, who co-owns Cleaver & Co. and launched the now-defunct Good Eggs food delivery service in New Orleans, only needs to get permission from the City Planning Commission to serve alcohol in order to open. The city planning staff is recommending approval of the request.
Reggie recently hosted a neighborhood meeting to positive response; the only concern was lack of off-street parking.
