City Planning Commission meeting on short-term rentals still in progress after 4 hours

The City Council chamber is packed

It’s a packed house today at the long-awaited meeting where the City Planning Commission is expected to vote on a set of regulations regarding short-term rentals in New Orleans. Four hours into the meeting, though, and opponents are still speaking.

Hundreds of opponents and supporters of short-term rentals—dressed in red and white, respectively—crowded the City Council chambers for the meeting today. Proponents spoke for nearly two hours into the meeting, then opponents began to speak.

The CPC’s vote will be a recommendation to City Council, who will make the ultimate decision. You can see NOLA.com’s live coverage of the meeting here.
