The Magazine Street building that once housed the eclectic antiques store Top Drawer (and most recently served as the temporary location for Peaches Records, which has since moved next door) will soon serve as an expansion site for Ecole Bilingue de la Nouvelle Orleans, Uptown Messenger reports.
According to a letter sent to neighbors, the school plans to use the building—which is down the street from the main campus—as an auxiliary building with a library, cafeteria, play space, and art room. The school is planning to begin renovations in the spring to be open by the start of classes in fall 2017.
Since the building is not zoned for a school, Ecole Bilingue will have to apply for a land-use change with the City Planning Commission.
