The Contemporary Art Center was rumored to be adding a coworking space to its long-undeveloped third and fourth floors, and word on the CBD streets was that the national chain WeWork would be setting up there.
The CAC will be adding a coworking space, but it’s not WeWork—The Shop, a partnership with the Domain Companies, the real estate development company behind the South Market District, will open at the CAC in summer 2017.
Targeting "technology, arts, and cultural-based businesses," the 40,000 square-foot space will be designed by Eskew+Dumez+Ripple, according to a press release. The Idea Village, currently located in the IP Building, another coworking space, will move operations to The Shop. There’s a website up for The Shop with a contact form to receive information.
