Jefferson Avenue always seems to really get the brunt of every road project, doesn’t it? After the never-ending SELA drainage project rendered the Uptown thoroughfare virtually impassable, Uptown Messenger is reporting the street will be closed at its Freret Street intersection for five months because of that same project.
The Sewerage and Water Board says motorists heading downtown on Freret will be unable to pass Jefferson at the intersection, and will instead be detoured along Octavia Street and Nashville Avenue. Drivers heading toward the University Area will be able to turn right on Jefferson to avoid the mess.
The closure starts Thursday, so watch out.
