This April, New Orleans ranked No. 16 in the city with the most expensive rent in the United States.
The data comes from Zumper’s National Rent Report, which evaluates over one million listings in over 100 cities throughout the nation. Specifically, researchers at Zumper analyze one and two bedroom units throughout each city.
Since last month—March of 2017—the median rent for one bedroom listings in New Orleans decreased by roughly five percent. The average dollar amount for a one bedroom listing is $1,360 dollars. Compared to April of 2016, rent for one bedroom listings increased by 7.1 percent.
The average price for a two bedroom listing in New Orleans is $1,510, which is a 5 percent decrease from April of 2016.
In March of 2017, New Orleans ranked No. 15 in Zumper’s national study.
Nationally, the average cost to rent a one bedroom is $1,164. The average price for a two bedroom is $1,377.
