The City of New Orleans is reconsidering traffic flow on Bourbon Street. This past January, the Office of the Mayor released its Citywide Public Safety Improvement plan, which is a $40 million plan to increase safety in several of New Orleans’s high volume areas.
In particular, The Office of the Mayor commissioned the department of Public Works to study traffic flow on Bourbon Street. In April, the department found four potential ways to circumvent traffic from pedestrian-filled streets. In June, the department proposed only one way to redirect traffic.
