Today at 10:30 a.m. The City of New Orleans will break ground on the Gert Town Natatorium, located at 3411 Broadway Street.
The 15,000-square-foot facility will have a new six-lane, 25-yard indoor pool. Other amenities include a community plaza, men’s, women’s and family locker rooms, and a snack bar.

Designed by HMS Architects and contracted by Landis Construction Co., LLC, The new indoor swimming facility will cost $6.7 million.
The site will be adjacent to the new Second District police station, which broke ground at 3401 Broadway Street this past May. The 17,000-square-foot facility will cost $6.3 million.
Announced by Mayor Mitch Landrieu in 2013, the Gert town relocation will allow the the Second District to be centralized in its area of service.
The second police district covers the southwestern part of New Orleans, which includes the Audubon, Freret, Uptown, Holly Grove and Gert Town neighborhoods.
