Developer Gerard Bourgeois Jr. has proposed a $5 million green hotel, aimed at young travelers, located at 1500 Robert C. Blakes Sr. Drive. The hotel faces Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and sits less than a block from St Charles Avenue.
Replacing a vacant 6,252-square-foot warehouse, the developer plans for the hotel to have 42 rooms, 17,875 square feet of interior space, and four floors.
What will make the hotel green-conscious? Solar panels, efficient washers and dryers, and the use of environmentally-friendly paint, according to Nola.com.
While the hotel will be required to have 21 parking spaces, the developer proposes 17: A combination of 9 on-site spaces, 7 on-street passes, and 1 parking space dedicated at 6 bicycles racks.
Architect Rick Fifield Architect designed the concept for the proposed development.
