New Orleans has a traffic and flood tracker app

App revealed nearly a week after the storm.

Last Friday, the Office of the Mayor released details on a new web application that monitors street flooding and traffic incidence reported to the City.

The Mayor unveiled the incident-monitoring application days after New Orleans residents voiced concerns about not knowing which streets to avoid during the August 5 storm.

The web-only application, powered by the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOLA Ready), can be used on both desktop and mobile devices. It has two separate tracking tabs: Traffic incidents and reported street flooding.

So far, the application pin points streets and intersection affected by incidents, but does not give detailed information about the incident.

The map only records incidence in the Orleans Parish limits. To use the map, visit NOLA Ready’s Streetwise website.
