New Orleans born musician Art Neville had strong ties with his Uptown neighborhood. In fact, while his music reached soaring heights and his musically-inclined brothers left for other cities, Art Neville made and maintained his roots on Valence Street.

While the impacts of Hurricane Katrina rendered his massive home (and second-floor recording studio) unusable, Neville remained committed to his community, moving just a few blocks down from his sacred Valence Street residence.

This past June, one developer decided to breathe new life into the home of this founding member of the Neville Brothers music group.

Located at 1115 Valence Street, it’s asking $1.4 million.

At first glance, it has a brick-and-iron fence, petite columns, wide sitting porch, and two notable domers at its facade.

“I’ve done some awesome properties and really fun builds, but this is hands down the best property that I’ve done,” says Jason Stearman, founder of Coastal Development Group, Inc., the developer responsible for this restoration.

It has spacious living and dining rooms, an open floor family room, library, and a sunroom. It has hardwood flooring, both soaring and vaulted ceilings, built-in shelves, and crown molding.

“I’ve completely modernized the home,” Stearman says, noting its new and updated plumbing, electric, and HVAC systems. “It was laid out for a celebrity, and I tried to keep that true. It really obtains a lot of its original charms and maintains its comfort.”

One of the most luxurious parts of this home is the kitchen, complete with white rhino marble, European style slab finishes, custom cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and a now-functioning gas fireplace.

At 3,980 square feet, it has five bedrooms and four bathrooms. It has two master bedroom suites: One on the first floor with ample closet space and a sumptuous master bathroom. Its second suite sits on the second floor and has direct access to this home’s second-floor balcony, a large walk-in closet, and an ensuite bathroom.

A wooden deck sits at this home’s rear.

Its developer will host an open broker and buyer tour Friday, September 22, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
