South Jefferson Davis Parkway overpass maintenance causes partial closure

Its getting overdue maintenance

Today, the City of New Orleans released an official traffic advisory on the partial closure of the the South Jefferson Davis Parkway overpass between Gravier Street and Drexel Drive. Commuters and pedestrians should expect partial lane and path closures will occur Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for at least two months.

During the two-month maintenance window, Battco Construction and Maintenance, Inc., will remove debris, repair roadway joints, and re-paint and repair overpass railings. The contractors began debris removal last week.

The South Jefferson Davis overpass spans from Gravier Street to Drexel Drive.

One of our favorite paths in New Orleans, the Jefferson Davis Parkway path, which follows the overpass, connects Bayou St. John the Mid City. The path begins at South Jefferson Davis Parkway and Washington Avenue and ends at the Lafitte Greenway.
