This “brainchild” of architect and developer Marcel Wisznia has been in the works for more than 10 years, according to co-listing agent Patrick Knudsen. Wisznia bought a blighted 1950s-era Buick dealership with an eye toward converting it into a mixed-used development with retail space on the ground floor. Appropriately, he named it The Garage.

“It will have a very contemporary, modernist interior, with large private terraces and sweeping views of downtown,” Knudsen said. “A really open, light-filled feel.”

The Warehouse District building is under construction. It will include 51 apartments and 11 penthouse condos, which are for sale now. In addition to high-end design, these penthouses feature an amenity found nowhere else in New Orleans: drive-in car elevators.

“It’s a completely new take on vehicle parking,” Knudsen said. “Drive your vehicle home, get on your elevator, and go up and park in front of your fifth-floor penthouse door. It offers a lifestyle that’s not really available anywhere else.”

Construction on the Garage will be complete in spring 2019.
