New Orleans rent comparison: What $1,500/month gets you

From Broadmoor to the French Quarter

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a semi-regular column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various New Orleans neighborhoods. Is one man’s studio another man’s townhouse? Let’s find out! Today, we’re looking at apartments renting around $1,500.

Esplanade Avenue and Marais Street

You can rent this gorgeous ground-floor apartment in Treme for $1,400/month. While there’s no documentation of square footage, it does have one bedroom and one bathroom. We’re in love with its covered sitting porch, hardwood floors, tall windows, and soaring ceilings. Its kitchen comes furnished. You can rent out the home fully furnished for $1,650/month. Both cats and dogs are allowed under the rental agreement.

4017 Octavia Street

In Broadmoor, you can rent this 1,400-square-foot apartment for $1,400/month. This ground-floor unit has two bedrooms and one bathroom. We love that it has a formal living and dining room and a sunny foyer. Highlights include its hardwood floors, ceiling fans and an in-unit washer and dryer. There’s no mention of any pet policy. But if you’re looking for a spot to call yours, this unit has off-street parking.

South Murat Street at Canal Street

Part of this furnished Mid-City double rents for $1,400/month. At 800 square feet, this home manages to fit two bedroom and two updated bathrooms. It has exposed-brick fireplaces, hardwood flooring, and an in-unit washer and dryer. A balcony that overlooks this home’s backyard sits at its rear. No pets are allowed in this unit, and there isn’t any off-street parking either.

Decatur Street at Barracks Street

You can live two blocks from the Mississippi River in this French Quarter apartment for $1,550/month. Certainly not the largest home for rent, this 700-square-foot apartment has one bedroom and one bathroom. It has an open layout, a kitchen with stainless steel appliance, and a private balcony with a third-floor view of Decatur Street. A shared courtyard sits at the rear of this unit. No pets are allowed in this unit, and there’s no off-street parking.

Burgundy Street at Touro Street

If you’d rather live in the Marigny, check out this second-floor unit that rents for $1,595/month. Slightly larger than its French Quarter counterpart, this 850-square-foot home has two bedrooms and one bathroom. We appreciate its open floorplan and furnished kitchen. It also has a washer and dryer. This unit also has two balconies and a shared pool and courtyard. Both cats and dogs are allowed under its rental agreement. There’s no mention of any off-street parking.
