The best homes you can buy under $250K in New Orleans

From a renovation project to a fancy double shotgun

Today, we’re kicking off the week with some of the best homes on the market in New Orleans. This time around our selection of dwellings includes condos and single-family homes under $250,000.

This home in Treme with a huge backyard just landed on the market. Priced at $92/square foot, it’s functional, but needs some TLC (and rightfully so at this price). Highlights include its 10-foot ceilings and airy layout. Measuring at 1,800 square feet, this home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. If you’re up for the renovation task, this home asks $169,000.

For $224,900 you can buy this modest Creole cottage double in Treme near the Lafitte Greenway. Each unit has one bedroom, one bathroom, and 675 square feet. At least one of the units rents for $700/month. Both units have an updated kitchen, ceiling fans, and new floors. Out back is a shared backyard.

This pink raised-basement home in Broadmoor with off-street parking wants $229,000. At first glance it has a cute front yard and an adorable sitting porch. It opens to an airy living and dining room. Its updated kitchen has granite counters and stainless steel appliances. At 1,193 square feet, this home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Built in 1919, you’ll find this renovated shotgun in St. Claude that asks $249,000. Measuring 1,560 square feet in total, each unit has one bedroom and one bathroom. Having identical floorpans, we’re a fan of the units’ deep and open layouts, use of reclaimed wood and trim, and open shelving in their kitchens.
