New Orleans rent comparison: What $1,300 gets you

Plenty of space, but no off-street parking

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a semi-regular column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various New Orleans neighborhoods. Is one man’s studio another man’s townhouse? Let’s find out! Today, we’re looking at apartments that asks under $1,300/month in New Orleans.

Elysian Fields Avenue at North Prieur Street

For $1,200/month you can rent part of this duplex in the 7th Ward. The renovated home has a shared covered sitting porch, tall windows, and a transom above its doorway. It opens to a spacious floorplan, complete will tall ceilings, hardwood floors, and crystal chandeliers. While there’s no record of the square footage, it does have two bedrooms and one bathroom. There’s no mention of any off-street parking or a pet policy.

1519 Dumaine Street

You can live just behind Louis Armstrong Park in Treme for $1,250/month. Measuring at 1,000 square feet, this home has a modest living room, two bedrooms, and one bathroom. It also has on-site laundry. Both dogs and cats are allowed under the rental agreement, as long as you pay a $350 pet deposit. But you won’t find any off-street parking.

2832 Cleveland Street

Less than two blocks from Canal Street, you can rent part of this sizable Mid-city home for $1,250/month. We love the complex’s wide facade, iron work, and covered front porch. The home has hardwood floors, tall ceilings, and an updated kitchen with granite countertops. The kitchen is also outfitted with a stainless steel stove (but no refrigerator). There’s a dedicated laundry room with washer and dryer hookups. At 1,026 square feet, the home has two bedrooms and one bathroom. No off-street parking is available.

3132 Robert Street

Part of this duplex in Broadmoor rents for $1,300/month. Built in 1900, The first-floor unit has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and 1,000 square feet of floorspace. The apartment does have an in-unit washer and dryer. Its kitchen comes with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. There’s a shared yard and patio at the rear of this home. No pets are allowed under the rental agreement. There also isn’t any off-street parking.
