A cheery Marigny Triangle duplex gets a price chop

The asking price has dropped from $825K to $799K

If you couldn’t tell by the king cakes, the sudden glut of downtown condos on the market is a sure sign that Mardi Gras is fast approaching. Among the listings is this cheery purple corner-lot home in the Marigny Triangle—add green and gold to its trim, and it will be all decked out for Carnival season.

In addition to its optimum location for parade proximity, the home has five bedrooms and three bathrooms (that’s a lot of room for out-of-town visitors). Each bedroom has a private, street-facing entrance. The two-story, 2,876-square-foot property has a ridiculous amount of outdoor features, given its dense, urban neighborhood. There’s a covered carport, wraparound porch, a balcony, and a deep patio with a hot tub.

Each floor could function as a separate apartment unit, because each is equipped with a full kitchen and bathroom. In addition to its spacious footprint, the home has typical New Orleans flourishes including wood floors, high ceilings, transoms, and crown molding. It’s asking $799,000.
