A worst-case scenario for a renter with pets involves smuggling in a dog or cat and praying the landlord doesn’t find out. Until recently, the best case involved paying an extra deposit and hoping your pet didn’t exceed any weight limits. However, New Orleanians now have a slew of pet-friendly apartment buildings at their fingertips, where pets aren’t just tolerated, they’re embraced. On-call vets, sitters, walkers, and designated pet play areas are just a few animal-friendly perks you’ll find at these six downtown apartment buildings.

6 pet-friendly apartment buildings, mapped
From pet-sitting to vet house calls, the services offered by these chic spots put you and Fido in the lap of luxury

The Pythian Apartments
Perched above the bustling Pythian Market in a beautifully renovated 100-year-old CBD building, these mixed-income apartments feature exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and tons of natural light. They also offer pet-sitting and walking services courtesy Sarah’s Pet Care Revolution.
The Strand
Apartments in this 30-story luxury high rise feature open floor plans, panoramic views, and deck pool access—and very pet-friendly vibes (seriously, every other picture on The Strand’s Instagram feed features a dog). A vet house call service comes in handy when your fur baby is under the weather.
The Paramount at South Market
The landscaped courtyard pool is probably the greatest amenity at this CBD apartment building, on-site pet grooming and dog walking services by Zeus’ Place are a close second. You’ll also find quartz countertops, wood floors, and plenty of other bells and whistles.
The Beacon at South Market
Two pets are welcome at The Beacon with a $150 deposit—and best of all, there’s no weight limit. Amenities include proximity to parks and access to dog-walking services and a boarding boutique. The airy gym, fourth-floor terrace, and clean, contemporary design are perks, too.
The Standard At South Market
Designed by architect Morris Adjmi, this artsy 15-story spot on Julia Street is the perfect launch pad for a raucous White Linen Night. Condos feature walnut cabinetry, marble countertops, bronze fixtures, and start at $575,000 for a one-bedroom. There’s even a designated outdoor pet area.

The Woodward Loft Apartments
This circa-1911 warehouse has a very Instagram-worthy Etruscan-lined atrium, and its loft apartments feature exposed brick and high ceilings. There’s also a rooftop pool and deck with panoramic views, and complimentary pet service stations and vet house call services.
