Prospect.3 is officially upon us and we here at Curbed NOLA couldn't be more excited. To celebrate the epic biennial that will bring artists from across the world to all across the metro, we're running a map series that takes you through a new neighborhood each week filled with Prospect.3 events and exhibits. Our Curbed Comparisons series will return next week and continue on Wednesdays. Starting now and each Friday until Prospect.3 closes in January, we'll be bringing y'all features, maps, and photos from what promises to be an epic season of artistry.

Faster, With More Knowledge

Local artist Brian St Cyr will display his dizzying, raw drawings — now, in large format, hence the title of the show — at his personal gallery throughout Prospect.3, every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5pm. Tomorrow kicks off St Cyr's gallery show with a reception from 6pm to 10pm.

New Orleans legend and all-around fabulous person Miss Pussycat's Panacea Theraic will be displayed in vibrant color photos and dioramas all through Prospect.3 at Siberia, daily from 5pm to 2am. Their opening night party is tomorrow from 6pm to 2am with a special performance by DJ Gris Gris from 6pm to 10pm. Explore the gorgeous and get to dancing.

Two innovative artists collaborating in one space! Silvie Deutsch and Kira Akerman's dizzying stop-motion visuals will transform their space into a living, breathing work of art. Its melding of space makes viewers one with the art in an almost fractal loop of movement. Their work will be on display until November 25th daily from 7pm to 10pm with an opening reception tomorrow.

Jimmy Mac Studios Open House Events

Mixed media master Jimmy Mac will have an open studio with special events tomorrow, November 8th, December 13th, and January 10th from 6pm to 10pm. Current works and pieces in progress will be on display to get the full feel of Mac's expert work from sketch to varnish.

La Oruga y La Mariposa

2011's NOFF short film award winner William Sabourin O'Reilly will be screening excerpts from cultural juxtaposition piece La Oruga y La Mariposa on Monday, November 10th form 6pm to 8pm. The in progress documentary connects contemporary Cuban life in the underground with its vibrant history. O'Reilly will be on hand to give a Q & A after the excerpt.

Le Adoración de MAXIMON

The patron saint of hedonism takes center stage in David Ford's one night only presentation. This play that seriously plays on traditions of the Mayan Indians will take place October 28th from 6pm to midnight. Actors and performers of all varieties will be on hand to help shape MAXIMON into a human character on the edge in a way that celebrates and examines the duality of humanity.photo via wiki commons

The most immediate art piece that greets you as you enter the Faubourg Marigny, Sally Heller's mounted ink jet design will be featured all of Prospect.3 both day and night, as it's currently displayed on a building at 2118 St Claude. New Orleans Airlift's one night only curation of Public Practice examines neighborhood boundaries on an actual boundary line across Franklin Ave. The exhibit highlights residents' artistic strengths, including the 504 Boys Horse Club excellent equestrian pursuits and the Caramel Curves, an all-female motorcycle krewe. This special event will take place tomorrow, October 25th from 5pm to 7pm. Ongoing events will be featured along Franklin Ave and beyond the duration of Prospect.3.

Shotgun Cinema at the Marigny Opera House

A November 12th double feature showing of Fat Shaker and Manuscripts Don't Burn kicks things off over at the Marigny Opera House. The performance starts at 6pm with the premiere of the venue's first double feature ever. The Iranian films highlight the surreal power plays of an ever-changing country as well as the pull of your home, however conflicted it may be. Yet another showing of stellar films will take place December 3rd, with titles to be announced.

This exhibition of mixed media works is open all of Prospect.3 every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5pm. A full day of events is schedule for tomorrow, with the space open from noon to 11pm. A rotation of pieces will be on display, starting with Check Out from now until November 2nd, then the urban exploration piece Suspension of Disbelief, on display from November 8th to December 7th. Brothers x 2 explores the sibling relationship from December 13th to January 4th and YYNN concludes the showing with abstraction by iconoclast Elizabeth Chen.

The Embassy

Part of the New Orleans Airlift's Public Practice event, The Embassy will be open all of Prospect.3 Tuesdays through Saturday from 11am to 6pm until November 21st, with dates and times determined thereafter. Ace's 8th Ward Car Wash and Sweet Shop is being transformed into a "neighborhood amnesty zone" in which guns will be bought back without question, musicians from Gun Metal Records will be recording and performing alongside neighborhood youth in an anti-violence album whose visceral noises come straight from the destroying of the guns themselves. Billboards are on display throughout the city, all composed by guest artists.
