View as Map

It's still possible to buy an affordable home that has your every desire — even if that desire isn't all that much. The tiny home movement that is sweeping the nation has been a feature of New Orleans for decades (our oldest on this list is a centenarian) though newer, smaller homes are more than welcome to join the party. Thanks to our friends over at Realtor.com, we've got a full list of nine of the smallest properties in New Orleans for you to "ooh" and "aww" over. We sure are. Anyone wanna help us get that cutie on Elizardi Blvd?

1028 Eliza St

Square Footage: 580 square feetThe Skinny: Wanna know what makes this tiny Algiers Point home so small? A "lack" of kitchen. Though the listing puts the kitchen at 10.1'by 9.1', there's apparently no sink and nothing more than cabinets right now. This tiny home was built in 1914 and offers one humble bedroom and one full bathroom for just $70K.

1624 Pace Blvd

Square Footage: 600 square feetThe Skinny: This humble home (also in Algiers Point) is somehow able to pack in two bedrooms in a seriously small package. Its $40,900 price tag is a serious discount compared to the less spacious 1028 Eliza St just around the corner and it includes a carport. Not a bad deal at all for the tiny home enthusiast.

2405 Iberville St

Square Footage: 635 square feetThe Skinny: 2405 Iberville is all about convenience. This quaint gem nestled near Whole Foods is just a block from the streetcar and comes at a discount — just last year the two bedroom, two bath was listed at $130K. Its current price? Just under $112K. By the looks of it, this is a definitely lived in home that could use an owner content with the cozy.

421 Tupelo St

Square Footage: 650 square feetThe Skinny: An adorable cottage in Holy Cross, 421 Tupelo boasts two bedrooms and one bathroom and a rather snazzy kitchen with brand new appliances. Like our previous listing, this one's also got a carport. $79,900 gets you an updated tiny home in a peaceful location.

528 Dumaine St #5

Square Footage: 711 square feetThe Skinny: The only apartment to grace our tiny home list, this French Quarter unit resides on the third floor in a century old building at 528 Dumaine. The apartment is a testament to the power of location, asking a pricey $339K for just one bedroom and one bathroom only steps away from Jackson Square and the French Market. Its open floor plan and exposed brick definitely adds to its charm but does it justify the price?

6015 Pauline Dr

Square Footage: 750 square feetThe Skinny: And now for a bit of contrast — 6015 Pauline Dr is the second least expensive of the tiny homes on our list. Located in Pontchartrain Park, this two bedroom, one bath may need its roof replaced as well as a few updates, though it was gutted and renovated post-K. $29,555 gets you a quaint little pad in a quiet little area just walking distance from Pontchartrain Park itself.

2323 S Derbigny St

Square Footage: 762 square feetThe Skinny: 2323 S Derbigny St has a bit of a sad history — built in 2007, never occupied. This three bedroom, one bath in Broadmoor deserves love, but not in the home improvement way. At just seven years old, it's a fine, modern home with tile flooring in the kitchen and carpets in the bedrooms. $76,900 gets you this youthful gem.

1436 Elizardi Blvd

Square Footage: 767 square feetThe Skinny: It's official — Algiers is the place for tiny homes. Yet another small property across the river, 1436 Elizardi Blvd has a rather large lot for such a small home at 6,098 square feet. Its angled interior ceiling with separated planks gives the two bedroom, one bath a rustic feeling without all the mess of living out in the country. The least expensive home on the list, all this lot with this little home can be yours for just $27,900.

1633 N Prieur St

Square Footage: 768 square feetThe Skinny: The exterior shot of 1633 N Prieur is ridiculously foreboding compared to what's inside its boarded up and freshly painted frame. Lots and lots of hardwood abounds in this two bedroom, one bathroom that was only built four years ago. $79K gets you the newest small home on the market
