Mapping White Linen Night's Art Galleries and Museums

View as Map

Twenty years ago, back when the city came to more of a standstill in the sweltering summer months and before the Julia Street art scene was the jumping locale it is now, an event called White Linen Night was born. In an effort to lure New Orleanians out of the comfort and chill of their air conditioned homes (and, oh yeah, sell some art in the process) a couple gallery owners put together this shindig. White Linen Night, which takes place tomorrow (Saturday, August 2) from 6 to 9 p.m., is now a fundraiser for the Contemporary Arts Center, and the event has exploded into a packed block party that's a sea of white linen-wearing folks checking out art, live music, and the food and booze booths set up along Julia Street. We've put together this handy little map to guide you to 14 galleries and two museums. Did we miss your favorite Warehouse District art spot? Tell us on the tipline or in the comments below and we'll add it on.
