While April 22 officially marks the 47th celebration of the Earth Day, several events have been scheduled over the next week. In fact, between April 21 and April 25, organization will hold a variety of family-friendly events throughout the city.

Ordered by date and time, here are some of the Earth Day celebrations happening in New Orleans.

RicRACK’s Community Open House (April 21, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.)

This non-profit costuming and arts education program is collecting boxed and bagged used clothing and textile during its open house event. The open house will feature informational on the organization’s sewing classes and workshops for costume designs. Additionally, the event will have make-up demos and textile repurposing activities for children.

RicRack will hold free sewing classes for both adults and children.

Lake PontchARTrain Craft Fair (April 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

This Saturday, the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation will hold a craft fair at the New Canal Lighthouse. The fair will host over 60 local vendors selling earth-themed food, arts, and crafts.

Earth Day activities for children include face painting, garden building, and sand art. Admission is to the craft fair is free.

The Lake PontchARTrain CRAFT Fair is free and open to the public.

Earth Day Louisiana Children's Museum (April 22, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

In celebration of Earth Day, the museum will host a variety of specially-themed activities during its regular admission. Earth Day activities on Lake Pontchartrain, energy conservation, and rainforest protection. The museum will also have an arts and craft activity, using recyclable material.

Children and adults admitted will have the option to attend the Museum’s Earth Day exhibits.

Earth Day in New Orleans City Park (April 25, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.)

City Park’s Botanical Garden will host a free Earth Day celebration along Victory Avenue, between the Great Lawn and the Tolmas Center. The celebration will feature 25 environmental community vendors, art and craft activities, live music, organic-food cooking courses, a free yoga class, and food and drinks for purchase.
