Once planned as the site of Sean Cummings’ controversial Elisio Lofts, a warehouse at 501 Elysian Fields Ave. has sold to a hotel developer, CityBusiness reports. A group specializing in hotel construction bought the 36,200 square-foot property.
New Orleans is in the middle of a hotel boom
If it wasn’t already obvious, New Orleans is amid a hotel boom, and NOLA.com has the numbers to back it up. The city has added 23 hotels since January 2010, bringing the total number of hotels in the area to 283. Those hotels hold about 40,000 rooms.
Hyatt French Quarter: Now more millennial friendly
The French Quarter Hyatt hotel just announced in a press release it has rebranded as a Hyatt Centric hotel, an outpost of the brand geared toward millennial travelers. The rebranding signals another "millennial" hotel brand entering the market.

Last time we heard about Stateside, the upscale hotel and hostel planned for Bywater, it had secured the approval of City Council. The latest from the project is that developer Ted Kelso of Pelican Royal, LLC has purchased a nearby vacant lot.

Construction has finally begun on the long-stalled hi-rise at the corner of Canal and N. Rampart Streets, which now includes plans for a hotel. Initially planned as an apartment building with retail, the development now includes plans for a hotel.

Three-star hotel coming to new terminal at MSY
Along with the new terminal planned to open at Armstrong Airport in October 2018, the airport also is planning for a three-star hotel next to the terminal. The Aviation Board and City of New Orleans issued an RFP for hotels with at least 140 rooms.

Tucked inside an item about the closing of the bar Bellocq is news that the Hotel Modern has been sold. Hotel restaurant Tivoli & Lee closed in March. The hotel’s new owners say they have not chosen a new brand for the hotel.
